Size guide

What size sofa do you need?

The right sofa is about the room, not only the sofa: how wide the wall is, where people walk and how far you sit from the TV. These are the numbers to check.

Rules of thumb

  • Leave at least 30 cm of wall on each side of the sofa so it doesn’t look squeezed.
  • Keep 75–90 cm free in front of it where people walk.
  • Put the coffee table 40–45 cm from the seat.
  • For a sofa bed, measure the room with the bed open.

In the example above, a Sklum Coco three-seater of 230 cm replaces a smaller sofa bed. Paste a sofa’s product link into redsgn and the AI shows it in your photo using the shop’s dimensions, sized against the doors and other standard heights in the room. Measure before you order: it’s an impression, not a technical drawing.
